News and comments / Noticias y comentarios

Hello everybody,
sorry I have been a bit slack to put the blog up to date but I'll try to keep you inform a bit more frequently from now on.
First of all, a balance:
Secretos de Lucha has been screened in more than 30 international film festivals around the world, in as many as 15 countries, going from France to Uruguay, through Mexico, Canada, USA, Russia, Serbia, New Zealand, Australia, Bolivia, Colombia, Argentina, etc etc etc.
Now, still it is not easy to get to see the film. Why? Because you basicaly can't buy it outside the web. There is the offical website, www.secretosdelucha.com, where you can order and pay for the film online, but otherwise, beside the Elkar shop in Bayonne, France, you can't buy it anywhere, BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE A DISTRIBUTOR. Even in Uruguay, where it would seem natural to get someone interested in selling the film for us, even without any profit from our part, the distributors never got interested enough in selling the movie on DVD. Don't ask me why.
So what happens now, is when people hear or see extracts of my movie outside Europe, and want more, they have to write to me or my producer to ask for a copy, and we do our best to send it to you. That is the luck of small independent movies, how we have to struggle still in a day to day basis to try and survive (and no, we don't really make a living out of this). But we do believe in what we do, and that's what keeps us going...
OK, now news: Secretos de Lucha is going to screen again in Vancouver, Canada, in November in a festival organized by Amnesty international (Saturday November 14th, 4.30Pm, Vancity Theatre, 1181 Seymour Street, Vancouver, Canada). It also screens in Uruguay when people organise special screenings (I just wish sometimes we would be informed as well so we could tell you).
By the way, October 25th is going to be a big day in Uruguay as this day are held the national elections and the referendum which will give the Uruguayan people the opportunity to get rid of the Impunity law. A major step would be then done in the Human right defense in that beautiful country.

The film is also available for screening in Europe for educational purposes, in which case I can also come for a talk with the students.
OK, thank you again fopr your interest, keep in touch.
Maiana
